KONZA PRAIRIE BIOLOGICAL STATION SCHEDULE OF FEES

(effective 01 April 2014)

Konza Prairie Biological Station is managed by the Division of Biology, Kansas State University. The lands are privately owned by The Nature Conservancy and the KSU Foundation. Operation and maintenance of the station is supported principally by user fees, with additional support from Kansas State University and the Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station. Call the Konza Prairie Office (785-587-0441) for additional information and reservations. NOTE: All requests for Konza Prairie site use, housing, facilities/equipment or education programs must be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Fees for site use, housing, and equipment should be included in grant proposals for research conducted at Konza Prairie Biological Station.

SITE USE

Research Funded by institutional or personal funds:$18/person/day

Non-scientific use:
(includes all for-profit organizations. Use must be consistent with Konza Prairie research, educational and land stewardship missions and must be approved in writing by the director)

(1/2 day minimum)

EQUIPMENT USE

Use of tractor, truck, trailer, water tanks, etc.$30.00/hour (two-hour minimum)
Station Field Staff Assistance (equipment operation, individual plot maintenance, on-site guidance, etc.) $60.00/hour (two-hour minimum)

HOUSING ACCOMODATIONS (For visiting researchers only!)

Hulbert Center: (Heated and air-conditioned dormitory facility with shared bathroom, kitchen, laundry facilities and telephone; guests are requested to provide their own towels and bedding.)

“Green House” (one 5-bedroom house; three bathrooms) and two Cottages: (two 2-bedroom houses; one bathroom) heated and air-conditioned with living room, bath, kitchen, laundry facilities; towels and bedding are available with agreement to launder them prior to departure, or guests may bring their own.). Green house has three single-sized beds in four of the bedrooms and a queen-sized bed in another bedroom. Cottages have two single-sized beds in all bedrooms and a futon in living room. We try to limit use of “Green House” to larger groups (>5) but if all facilities are full, we will rent single beds.

All housing guests have access to on-site Internet connections. Contact KPBS office (785-587-0441) for further details regarding housing. For monthly rates, contact KPBS office.

Hulbert Center

(Indoor facility up to 25 persons) $13.00/hour

Konza Prairie Meeting Hall:
Cortelyou Lecture Room (1,750 square feet with overhead projector) with a seating capacity of 80 persons.
Additional large multi-purpose room (1,850 square feet) designed as flexible space for varied uses.

½ Day (up to four hours; no education program)      $275.00
½ Day (up to four hours with education program) $275.00 plus $5.00/person
Daily rental (no educational program) $350.00
Daily rental (with educational program)  $350.00 plus $5.00/person

Hulbert Center Patio (up to 6 hours; maximum 150 individuals)

No Education program $3.00/person
With Education program  $8.00/person
